Airbrush vs Traditional

We’re answering one of your MOST ASKED questions! We want you to look and feel your absolute best on your wedding day, so we’ve broken down the pros and cons when it comes to airbrush and traditional foundation! Let’s get started!

Pros - Airbrush Foundation:

  • ZERO chance of seeing streaks and smears. Rain or shine, your foundation is sure to look perfect in person and photos.

  • Easy to CUSTOM mix the perfect foundation shade and adjust undertones to get the perfect match.

  • EXTREMELY lightweight and buildable. Whether the bride wants sheer coverage, full coverage, or somewhere in between, airbrush foundation can achieve any look desired without your face feeling heavy with makeup.

  • 12-15 hour wear, water-resistant (will not streak/run with tears or sweat), and very gentle on all skin types. If you’re a happy crier or expect to dance your wedding night away, airbrush foundation might be the right choice for you!

  • Transfer resistant! This is KEY if you’re someone who touches their face often.

  • Great option if you want to cover up any acne, tan lines, discoloration or tattoos! No need to worry about unwanted makeup ruining your dress!

    Cons - Airbrush Foundation:

  • Due to the extra equipment and skill level it takes to apply airbrush, we do charge an additional $30 to apply airbrush foundation.

  • It can be difficult to get in the crevices of mature or aged skin. If you fall under this skin type, we suggest a thin coat of traditional foundation and then a blow over of airbrush to lock in your wedding day look.

  • Airbrush can be drying on the skin. It’s important that your artist knows this in advance to be able to prep your skin properly for the perfect airbrush application.

  • Airbrush requires more knowledge and skill with products and equipment to execute the perfect look. Make sure your artist is well-versed on the art of airbrush! At She is Art Beauty, our airbrush artists are equipped and trained to create your flawless airbrushed look!

Pros - Traditional Foundation:

  • There are a wide variety of foundations on the market to choose from. Our artists carry many high end foundation choices in our kit to best suit your skin type and desired look. If there’s a particular one you like more than others, we are more than happy to work with your foundation of choice.

  • When it comes to traditional foundation, it is much easier to find artists and companies to provide this service.

  • Traditional foundation can be applied with a brush or beauty blender, in comparison to the applicator used for airbrush foundation.

  • Traditional foundation is less expensive than airbrush foundation applications.

Cons - Traditional Foundation:

  • Traditional foundation usually starts to wear off within 6-7 hours, whereas airbrush can hold a look up to 12+ hours. With the Texas heat, masks, sweat and tears, we recommend blowing over the face with a light layer of airbrush foundation, just to reinforce your wedding day look!

  • Blending traditional foundation can be a bit trickier when it comes to the neckline, ears and jaw line. Make sure your artist is looking at your makeup from every angle to ensure a cohesive look!

  • Some foundations oxidize throughout the day (meaning they change tone or get slightly darker). At She is Art Beauty, we provide high end foundation products to ensure that your shade is the perfect match throughout your entire wedding day!

It is important to stay informed when choosing your wedding day look! We strive to share the knowledge we’ve learned from years of training, countless weddings and personal experiences! Whichever foundation style you choose, my team and I are so excited to help bring your dream wedding look to life!
